Letter jackets, line names, party lines, step shows, and popularity. These are the most coveted vanities that college students long for during their undergraduate tenure. I was certainly one who wanted such a lifestyle. Last year around September I saw a DVD series by Elder G. Craig Lewis called the Truth Behind Hip Hop which breaks down the true agenda of Hip Hop and R&B music through the word of God. During the series he began to talk about how my personal walk with God was being contaminated and jeopardized by wanting to associate myself with Greek life. How you ask? Tornado touches down in Queens and Brooklyn
A terrifying tornado touched down briefly in Queens and Brooklyn Saturday morning, destroying property, disrupting plans and terrifying residents all over the city.
A black tunnel cloud accompanied by howling winds screamed into south Brooklyn and Queens at around 11 a.m., with reports of the potent storm hitting the ground on the Rockaway Peninsula and Carnarsie.
“I saw a big gray cloud coming and ran to my basement with my son,” said Diane Tye, 36, an office manager from Breezy Point who scooped up her son Dylan, 2, and ran to her house when she saw the tunnel cloud approach.

EU-funded researchers are looking at ways this new technology could protect your security and make identity checking less obtrusive and more accurate.
You might think that PIN codes and fingerprints are pretty secure identity systems, but they are in fact simple to hack. The criminal community has found it too easy to steal PIN numbers just using cameras, card copiers or the point of a knife at the cash point. And James Bond famously tricked an adversary to believing his false identity by wearing ‘fake fingerprints’.
The use of biometric identification — using the unique properties and characteristics of an individual to help identify them — continues to grow in popularity. Modern electronic passport checks use face recognition, and iris scanning has also been tested in some airports.

Canada Scraps the Penny
Canada’s federal budget, released last week, includes the decision to end production of the penny. (Matthew Little/The Epoch Times)
TORONTO—Penny pinchers in Canada may soon turn their attention to nickels and dimes given the news in the country’s federal budget that just came down: pennies are being discontinued.
“Given its declining purchasing value, some Canadians consider the penny more of a nuisance than a useful coin,” notes the announcement that came with the publication of budget.
Credit, debit, and electronic transactions will keep exact purchase prices, but cash transactions will round prices that end in 3 cents up to 5 cents, and round prices that end in 2 cents down to zero.

Saudi Arabia And China Team Up To Build A Gigantic New Oil Refinery – Is This The Beginning Of The End For The Petrodollar?
The largest oil exporter in the Middle East has teamed up with the second largest consumer of oil in the world (China) to build a gigantic new oil refinery and the mainstream media in the United States has barely even noticed it. This mammoth new refinery is scheduled to be fully operational in the Red Sea port city of Yanbu by 2014. Over the past several years, China has sought to aggressively expand trade with Saudi Arabia, and China now actually imports more oil from Saudi Arabia than the United States does. In February, China imported 1.39 million barrels of oil per day from Saudi Arabia. That was 39 percent higher than last February. So why is this important? Philipines records an astounding 900 aftershocks in first 24 hours after 6.9 magnitude earthquake
Residents walk along a damaged road caused by an earthquake in Guihulngan, Negros Oriental in central Philippines February 7, 2012. Philippine rescuers searched on Tuesday for 29 residents of a mountainside community feared dead after a landslide triggered by an earthquake engulfed their homes. A magnitude 6.7 quake struck near Tayasan town in the central Philippine island of Negros on Monday. Fifteen people are known to have been killed while several remote towns have been cut off because of damage to roads and bridges.
TAGBILARAN CITY, Bohol, Feb. 7 (PIA) — The local seismology monitors recorded as much as 900 mild aftershocks as of noontime today after the 6.9-magnitude earthquake hit Central Visayas on Feb. 6.
According to the local Philippine Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), through Engineer Nolan Evangelista, aftershocks are just ordinary incidents after a major earth movement.
Evangelista also shared that the most noticeable aftershocks reached intensity 3 that was recorded at around 6:10 p.m. yesterday and another one at 7:32 p.m., which reached intensity 2.

More than hundred dolphins beached in Cape Cod baffle scientists
Animal rescuers are working to save more than a hundred common dolphins beached off Cape Cod, Mass., since January 12. Marine scientists have been unable to explain the recent pattern of dolphins being washed ashore.
