dailymail

Thousands of pills filled with powdered human flesh have been discovered by customs officials in South Korea, it was revealed today.

The capsules are in demand because they are viewed as being a medicinal ‘cure-all’.

The grim trade is being run from China where corrupt medical staff are said to be tipping off medical companies when babies are aborted or delivered still-born.

Dead baby pills: This is ground baby powder which tests discovered is 99.7 per cent human last year. South Korean officials have stopped 17,000 dead baby pills being imported since last August

The tiny corpses are then bought, stored in household refrigerators in homes of those involved in the trade before they are removed and taken to clinics where they are placed in medical drying microwaves.

Once the skin is tinder dry, it is pummelled into powder and then processed into capsules along with herbs to disguise the true ingredients from health investigators and customs officers.

The discoveries since last August has shocked even hardened customs agents who have pledged to strengthen inspections.

Chinese officials are understood to have been aware of the trade and have tried to stop the capsules being exported but thousands of packets of them have been smuggled through to South Korea.

Danger: The Chinese Ministry of Health has launched an investigation into the alleged production of pills made from dead babies

There is a huge demand for alternative Chinese remedies – which include ground up rhino horns.

The Chinese have historically consumed human placentas to improve blood supply and circulation.

Health authorities in Asia are concerned that if the powdered foetus trade is allowed to continue the capsules will find their way onto the internet and be sold to gullible or sick desperate people in other parts of the world.

The South Korean Customs Service said today that it had heightened its searches of suspicious packages being brought into the country by travellers from China in an attempt to stamp out the sickening trade.

According to customs agents, 35 smuggling attempts have been made since August last year involving more than 17,000 capsules disguised as ‘stamina boosters’.

Hospitals and abortion clinics in China reportedly pass the remains onto drugs companies when a baby is stillborn or aborted, the South Korean SBS documentary team reported last year.

The San Francisco Times reported that tests carried out on the pills confirmed they were made up of 99.7 per cent human remains.

The tests were successfully able to establish the genders of the babies used.

There is a huge demand for the pills which are thought to enhance stamina. Microwave-dried placenta is also sought after for its alleged ‘medicinal’ benefits.

However, in reality the human flesh capsules contain super-bacteria and other harmful ingredients.

A number of smugglers who have been detained by the South Korean authorities have claimed they did not know what the ingredients were or the manufacturing process behind them.

Kate Knibbs at Mobiledia reports the sensors are targeted at preventing illness and disease, the two causes of most troops medical evacuations.

What seems like a simple way of cutting costs and increasing efficiency has some people concerned that this is the first step in a “computer chips for all” scenario.

Bob Unruh at WND reports one of those opponents, Katherine Albrecht, co-author of Spychips says “It’s never going to happen that the government at gunpoint says, ‘You’re going to have a tracking chip. It’s always in incremental steps. If you can put a microchip in someone that doesn’t track them … everybody looks and says, ‘Come on, it’ll be interesting seeing where we go.’”
With a least four dark cores larger than Earth, AR1476 sprawls more than 100,000 km from end to end, and makes an easy target for backyard solar telescopes. Amateur astronomer Alan Friedman sends this picture of the behemoth from his backyard in Buffalo, NY: “AR1476 is firecrackler,” says Friedman. Indeed, the active region is crackling with impulsive M-class solar flares. Based on the sunspot’s complex ‘beta-gamma’ magnetic field, NOAA forecasters estimate a 75% chance of more M-flares during the next 24 hours. There is also a 10% chance of powerful X-flares.

Wildlife experts were at a loss in early 2011 to explain the mass bird and fish deaths that seemed to occur with alarming regularity, prompting religious fanatics to proclaim the end of days were upon us. Since that time, many of these phenomena have been explained as effects of bad weather or a reaction to a New Year’s Eve fireworks.

No official word has yet been offered for the pelican die-off in Lima. New York’s Daily News writes:

Puerto Eten fisherman’s association president Fernando Niquen says his group found about 1,200 dead pelicans Thursday and Friday along a 105-mile (170-kilometer) stretch of coastline.

The government’s Institute of the Sea says it found nearly 600 dead birds, mostly pelicans but also gannets, along a 43-mile (70-kilometer) stretch.

The area perhaps coincidentally was the site of a recent mass dolphin die-off that involved 900 of the sea-going mammals.

Addressing the pelican deaths, a regional chief, Edward Barriga, recalls a similar die-off of pelicans and cormorants in the same area in 1997. The cause of the earlier die-off was a lack of anchovies, which the birds rely on as a primary source of food. That lack was blamed, in turn, on the El Nino meteorological phenomenon.

The current mass deaths differs from the earlier die-off in terms of sheer size alone. A coast guard official in Lambayeque us quoted by the Daily News as claiming he has never seen so many dying pelicans on the beach in his 25 years on the job.

China’s People’s Liberation Army is preparing to destroy U.S. computer and network infrastructure in future attacks and knock out satellites with microwave pulses, according to recently translated Chinese military writings.

A senior colonel in the General Staff Fourth Department—the cyber warfare and electronic spying section known as 4PLA—wrote in one article that Chinese electronic network attack plans call for a “system of systems” destruction plan.

U.S. cyber warfare combat capability “forms a great threat for our military in terms of carrying out joint campaigns and operations, and especially information operations,” wrote Col. Lin Shishan.

“In this regard, we must establish the information combat concept of ‘attack and destruction of system of systems,’ and from the point of view of structural resistance, regard information systems of the main opponent as a whole, look for crucial points in the architecture which will serve as precise attack targets of information operations in order to break the balance of their architecture, paralyze the work of the systems, and reach the goal of weakening and suppressing their ability to obtain information superiority,” Lin wrote in the Beijing journal “New Century and New Age.”

A second article in a Chinese military journal revealed new details on how China’s military is set to conduct high-power microwave attacks against satellites in space.

Authors Wu Gang, Song Zhiqiang, and Liu Bo of the China Academy of Space Technology stated that satellite systems are critical for China’s national security and economy, and as a result “satellite systems would unavoidably become the key target to attack by the enemy in modern warfare.”

Because Russia and the United States are developing anti-satellite weapons, the authors state, China must follow suit.

The Pentagon has said it is not developing space weapons, although a U.S. sea-based missile defense interceptor was used in 2008 to shoot down a falling satellite.

However, China’s military in 2007 successfully tested satellite-killing missiles and has developed electronic jammers and lasers for use against space systems, according to the Pentagon’s annual report to Congress on the PLA.

To destroy satellites, microwaves are fired in pulses and enter them through antennae, cables, or slots; once inside, they destroy electronic and other components, the Chinese article states.

“When the power or energy reaches a certain level of magnitude, it would interfere with the internal electronic equipment or components, rendering them unable to function normally, or even burning the semi-conductor components and integrated circuit of the electronic equipment,” the article says.

“Some military powers” already have space-based high-power microwave weapons that can fly close to spacecraft targets to be attacked, the report says.

It concludes that both ground-based and space-based high-power microwave weapons can damage orbiting satellites.

A third PLA paper published in March calls for China’s armed forces to expand “cyber dominance.”

Author Liu Wangxin said “some countries and organizations” are using the Internet to “carry out purposeful political and cultural infiltrations.”

“The information network will become the center of military actions,” Lui says.

Chinese national sovereignty is threatened by the use of the Internet because key information nodes and facilities are controlled by the United States, where most of the Internet trunk lines are based.

Expanding Chinese cyber warfare capabilities “has a direct bearing on the outcome of future informatized wars,” according to Liu, who noted that cyber weapons are strategic.

“While great importance is attached continuously to wartime actions, it is also necessary to pay special attention to non-wartime actions,” he writes. “For example, demonstrate the presence of the cyber military power through cyber reconnaissance, cyber deployment, and cyber protection activities; make use of the characteristics of the cyber operation force, which can take action rapidly, has strong gathering and reorganizing capability, and is able to carry out high-intensity confrontations, to effectively protect the information nodes in cyberspace.”

Dmitri Alperovitch, chief technology officer for CrowdStrike, who specializes in Chinese cyber warfare said the 4PLA colonel’s disclosure of plans for deep attacks against U.S. networks—not just front-line nodes—reveals a key Chinese warfighting goal.

“If this represents the official line of thinking, this means that the prospects are not good that a limited conflict in a Taiwan Straits would remain localized to that geography without escalating into an all-out war,” Alperovitch told the Free Beacon.

The writings make clear “the Chinese realize that our combat-supportive information systems are not only a great advantage, but our reliance on them is potentially one of our biggest weaknesses,” he said.

Of concern is the revelation that the Chinese are planning joint kinetic, electronic warfare and network attacks against U.S. systems, Alperovitch said.

“As expected, they view our communications and GPS navigation systems as priority targets at the start of a conflict and are spending time and effort figuring out their vulnerabilities and attack strategies,” he said.

The writings support the findings of the congressional U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission that stated in a report in March that China’s military seeks to integrate computer attacks with other military operations in what the PLA calls “information confrontation.”

“PLA leaders have embraced the idea that successful war-fighting is predicated on the ability to exert control over an adversary’s information and information systems, often preemptively,” the report said.

“This goal has effectively created a new strategic and tactical high ground, occupying which has become just as important for controlling the battle space as its geographic equivalent in the physical domain,” the report said.

Edward Timperlake, a former Pentagon technology security official, said the writings indicate China is preparing for future broad-spectrum warfare.

Timperlake noted that U.S. forces that are being built up in the Pacific need funding for “a new revolutionary technology/platform, training and tactics” to challenge the Chinese military’s high-tech warfare plans.

“They have not yet grasped this technology pivot—building a U.S. and allied honeycomb [command, control, communications, computers, intelligence surveillance, and reconnaissance] Pacific grid,” Timperlake said. “Thus being robust and redundant is our way ahead. The Chinese sense this, but they are focusing on our current capability, which they can hurt but which will hopefully rapidly evolve in a different direction.”

The Department of Defense has confirmed foreign media reports that Russian troops are set to target terrorists on Americans soil as part of an unprecedented joint drill with the United States which will take place in Colorado next month.

As we reported yesterday, Airborne troops from Russia are set to take part in drills focused around targeting terrorists at Fort Carson between May 24 and May 31. The soldiers will also be mingling with the local community, attending a baseball game in Colorado Springs during their stay.

Although it marks the first time Russian troops will train on U.S. soil, soldiers from a plethora of different nations have been involved in similar drills for well over a decade.

“The Russian soldiers are here as invited guests of the U.S. government; this is part of a formal bilateral exchange program between the U.S. and Russia that seeks to develop transparency and promote defense reform,” Cmdr. Wendy L. Snyder, U.S. Defense Press Officer for policy, told The New American in an e-mail. “This is the first time that American and Russian special operations troops have participated in a bilateral exercise.”

“According to Snyder, the exercises — which she said would last about three weeks in all — will serve to train and improve skills related to terror-war fighting. About 20 Russian soldiers will be participating, with most of the training to take place on the Fort Carson, Colorado, Army base and a mountain training area several hours away.”

The presence of foreign troops on U.S. soil has long caused consternation with many on the American right for a number of reasons, both historical and contemporary, stretching right back to when the British called upon German Hessian soldiers during the Revolutionary War.

More modern fears revolve around global UN peacekeeping troops being used to quell unrest inside America, an issue touched upon by Henry Kissinger during the 1991 Bilderberg meeting when he stated, “Today Americans would be outraged if U.N. troops entered Los Angeles to restore order; tomorrow they will be grateful.”

Drills such as FEMA’s 2009 NLE exercise, during which foreign troops worked alongside U.S. authorities, have led to concerns that the federal government would be forced to rely on foreign mercenaries to restore order, confiscate weapons or even incarcerate citizens during a national emergency, because of the likelihood that Americans would refuse to carry out such orders against other Americans.

One of the primary reasons why this story hasn’t gone viral is because doubt was cast on the issue when a known disinformation outlet (European Union Times) decided to embellish the details by adding completely manufactured nonsense about Russian troops “seizing the CIA’s main computer facility in Denver, the NSA’s main computer facility in Bluffdale, Utah, and taking control of main runways and terminals of the Denver International Airport.”

Despite the fact that these claims come from a source who is notorious for making a living out of fooling people into believing bogus stories, Glenn Beck’s The Blaze website carried them without retraction.

This in turn poisoned the well and led some to believe that the drills themselves, which are completely confirmed and admitted, were a hoax.

The Department of Defense’s acknowledgment that the exercises as described in the initial media reports are indeed taking place will hopefully put an end to this confusion and allow focus to return to the question of why Russian troops are training to kill “terrorists” on U.S. soil.

“Right now, there’s an imbalance between the north and the south poles,” Jonathan Cirtain, NASA’s project scientist for a Japanese solar mission called Hinode, in a recent article on NASA’s website. “The north is already in transition, well ahead of the south pole, and we don’t understand why.”

Further, the asymmetrically reversing solar magnetic field could have an effect on Earth, resulting in increased solar flares and the accompanying bursts of radioactive particles called “coronal mass ejections,” or CMEs, that can hit Earth and cause brilliant Northern Lights displays and problematic geomagnetic solar storms, according to NASA scientists.

“This usually leads to a double peak in the sunspot number and CME rate as a function of time,” Nat Gopalswamy, a solar scientist NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md., in an email to TPM.

Gopalswamy and his team studied the Sun’s shifting magnetic field frommicrowave signatures obtained by Japanese radio telescopes and reported their findings in a paper in the Astrophysical Journal on April 9.

Gopalswamy explained that while the Sun’s shifting magnetic poles were first discovered in 1955, the rate at which the North and South wasn’t found to be mismatched until the last few solar cycles.

To be clear, the magnetic field doesn’t just flip, but rather, the Sun essentially sheds its current magnetic field and regrows a new one every 11 years. Currently, the Northern portion of the Sun is further along on this process than its Southern counterpart.

Further, the Sun’s oddly shifting magnetic field affects the Solar System, though it isn’t yet known just how.

“Whether the north pole of the Sun has north or south polarity decides the entry point of galactic cosmic rays into the heliosphere,” Gopalswamy told TPM.

The heliosphere is an enormous magnetic bubble made up of the continual regular ejection of charged particles from the Sun. It stretches beyond Pluto.

OTTAWA — Immigration Minister Jason Kenney says he supports extending biometric ID requirements to permanent residents and would consider amending his current omnibus immigration bill to make it happen.

“I think in principle, we should be doing everything we reasonably can to identify visitors or immigrants and ensure they don’t represent a threat to Canada’s safety, so biometrics is the best technical tool at our disposal and I think in principle, that it should be applied to not just temporary but also permanent residents,” Kenney said Thursday after testifying before a Commons committee reviewing Bill C-31, the Protecting Canada’s Immigration Act.

After hinting at it during the meeting, he confirmed the government was “considering” amending the bill to ensure it covers permanent residents.

Right now, the provision that would grant Citizenship and Immigration the legal authority to collect fingerprints and digital photographs starting next year only applies to those entering Canada on a visitor visa, work permit or study visa.

Kenney was on the hot seat Thursday as Commons committee members grilled him on his controversial refugee bill for the first time.

Bill C-31 seeks to deport so-called “bogus” refugee claimants more quickly, clamp down on human smugglers and require certain visa holders to turn over biometric data. The bill would fast-track refugee applications from so-called “safe” countries deemed unlikely to produce bona fide asylum claimants and bar those who receive a negative decision from filing an appeal.

It’s billed as an improvement to the Balanced Refugee Reform Act adopted during the previous Parliament but not yet implemented. That bill was approved with much fanfare after the then-minority Conservatives reached a consensus with the NDP. The new bill, however, effectively reintroduces the contentious elements that were omitted — a move that has the official Opposition New Democrats crying foul.

Critics also say the proposed legislation puts too much power in the hands of the minister and raised further concerns Thursday about a provision that could have the unintended consequence of revoking a refugee’s permanent residence due to improved circumstances in their country of origin.

BEGIN OPTIONAL END

Kenney said the provision is actually aimed at “streamlining” the current two-step process for revoking the status of those found to have obtained their refugee status fraudulently and that he’s open to amendments that might clarify the situation.

He also rejected suggestions that detaining individuals who enter Canada by way of illegal smuggling operations and barring even the bona fide refugees among them from obtaining permanent resident status for five years violates international agreements and creates a two-tier system.

Is your house driving you buggy? If so, you’re not alone. A national survey in the U.S. found that 84 percent of American homeowners experienced a pest problem in the last 12 months, which could make this a good year for pest control professionals. Slightly more than half of all homeowners think it’s essential to use the services of a pest control company.

The top pest issues for homeowners in the last year were ants (49 percent), spiders (43 percent), flies (37 percent), mosquitoes (34 percent), mice (30 percent) and wasps (29 percent), according to a survey of more than 1,300 homeowners sponsored by Home Team Pest Defense, a residential pest control company.

“Pests have appeared earlier than usual this year due to warm winter, early spring and recent heavy rains,” said Russ Horton, the company’s national technical director. “We have already seen termite swarms in Texas, Georgia and Florida, odorous house ants in the Mid-Atlantic, and scorpions in Arizona.”

The survey also found that 80 percent of homeowners are concerned about pests in their home. The top pests homeowners worry about are termites, cockroaches, rats, bedbugs and mice. Termites are the greatest pest concern, worrying one in four homeowners, and 13 percent actually experienced termites in the last 12 months. Pest problems have caused structural damage to their homes for nearly one quarter (22 percent) of homeowners.

Eighty percent of homeowners are also concerned about being exposed to bedbugs when traveling, and 81 percent are not confident they know how to prevent bringing bedbugs into their home.

While many homeowners (54 percent) treated pest problems on their own, two-thirds of the do-it-yourselfers were unable to resolve their problem completely. Half of homeowners (51 percent) say using a pest control service is a necessity, and working with a company that guarantees its work was very important to almost everyone (95 percent). Treatments that will not harm children and pets were a high priority for 80 percent of homeowners.

ruvr.ru

Russian-Chinese war games “Naval Interaction-2012″ in the Yellow sea has entered its active phase on April 24. 25 warships, 13 aircrafts, 9 helicopters and 2 units of the special forces of the two countries participate in them. Taking into account the number of participating forces and the scenario, these manoeuvres are apparently the most large-scale in the modern history of bilateral relations.

According to “Interfax”, the Russian party is represented in the war games by large antisubmarine ships “Admiral Tributz”, “Marshal Shaposhnikov” and “Admiral Vinogradov”, as well as logistics ships. The detachment is headed by the

flagship of the Fleet – Guards’ guided-missile cruiser “Varyag”.

China is represented by 18 military ships, including the flagship missile destroyer “Harbin”, and 5 missile frigates, including “Chzhoushan” and “Suyzhow”, which were performing combat tasks on distant borders escorting ships in the Gulf of Aden.

The scenario includes joint crossing of a “dangerous” area, firing various weapons at sea and air targets, and rescue operations at sea. The ships will be covered from the air by deck helicopters Ka-27; and a sea infantry sub-unit of the Pacific Navy is placed under the detachment’s command in order to conduct special operations.

According to the RF Ministry of Defence message, the goal of the manoeuvres is strengthening and development of the Russian-Chinese relations and strategic partnership, and cooperation between the two countries and their armed forces.

At the same time one of the main aspects of any war games is a demonstration. Apparently, the necessity of such a large-scale demonstration of the Russian-Chinese strategic partnership possibilities has arisen after the promulgation of a new US military doctrine concerning the Asia-Pacific region.

Last November, during his Asian tour the US President Barack Obama outlined a number of tangible changes in the American geopolitical strategy. After the withdrawal of troops from Iraq and in the near future – from Afghanistan, the United States intends to redirect its security policy from Europe and the Middle East towards the Asia-Pacific region.

Russia, which, by the way, hosts an APEC summit in Vladivostok this year, is clearly aiming at the restoration of its role in the region. There’s nothing China can do in this situation, all its main industrial areas being located in the coastal zone, and its export-import transportation passing through the Asian main sea communication lines in the South China Sea.

The US claim to dominance in the region, to put it mildly, confuses China and Russia, and contributes to their closer relations.

“The current maneuvers must demonstrate to the US that Russia and China are committed to military cooperation in the region. And both our countries confirm it to each other,” – believes Viktor Litovkin, the chief editor of the “Independent Military Review”. In addition, according to the expert, it is important for China to show the level of naval interactions with Russia now, when territorial disputes between China and the Philippines and a number of other countries over the islands in the South China Sea has dramatically deteriorated. Litovkin draws attention to the fact, that naval war games with the participation of the Philippines’ and the US ships are under way in this same area in a similar demonstrative manner. The American warships calling at Viet Nam, which also puts in a claim for the debatable archipelago, attracts attention as well.
