Our Fear-Based Society and the Resultant Loss of Liberty

What do the Patriot Act, X-ray scanners and “enhanced” pat downs at airports, our new healthcare system (I hate calling it “Obamacare” because he’s just a puppet like all Presidents), Roosevelt’s “New Deal,” and all other government programs have in common? They’re all sold to us by politicians as a means to keep us safe: safe from terrorists, safe from the bad insurance companies who will uninsure you when you get sick, safe from economic hardships.

Notice, if you will, that these sort of programs get passed by our government when something bad happens that affects the psyche of the entire US. 9/11 happens and we get the PATRIOT Act, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and a host of other anti-liberty, supposedly pro-safety, laws and agencies; the Christmas Day underwear bomber detonates a small bomb setting himself ablaze and we get body scanners and “enhanced” pat downs at airports; the economy hits the skids and it’s the perfect time to pass sweeping healthcare “reform” because everyone’s concerned they will lose their job and their healthcare.

As Rahm Emmanuel famously said, “You don’t ever want a crisis to go to waste; it’s an opportunity to do important things that you would otherwise avoid.”

However, I would argue Ben Franklin’s perspective is the healthy one. In 1818, he wrote: “They willing to give up essential liberty for a little temporary safety, deserve neither and will lose both.”

Benjamin Franklin was a wise man; a student of history. He studied — as all the founders did — the toll this forfeiture of liberty for perceived safety took on civilizations past. It never ends well. More specifically, it always ends in bloodshed/genocide at the hands of an authoritarian regime hell-bent on obtaining and maintaining power over its citizenry. That may sound crazy when you look around at the United States today, but do you think the citizens of pre-Nazi Germany believed their world could devolve so far so fast?

In pre-Nazi Germany, there was an event very similar to 9/11 that is, today, understood by many to have been the event that ushered in the Nazi party; all with the notion that they would keep the citizens safe.  The Reichstag building — the assembly location of the German Parliament — was allegedly set ablaze by a supposed communist named Marinus van der Lubbe. The Nazis used the fire as evidence that the Communists were beginning a plot against the German government. Of course, people panicked!

According to Reichstag.org (and all other official sources), “Adolf Hitler, who had been sworn in as Chancellor of Germany four weeks before, on 30 January, urged President Paul von Hindenburg to pass an emergency decree in order to counter the, “’ruthless confrontation of the Communist Party of Germany.’” With civil liberties suspended, the government instituted mass arrests of Communists, including all of the Communist parliamentary delegates. With them gone, and their seats empty, the Nazis went from being a plurality party to the majority; subsequent elections confirmed this position and thus allowed Hitler to consolidate his power.”

Now, why is this relevant? Quite plainly because it’s one of the most critical moments in recent human history; an event that ultimately led to the deaths of over six millions Jews, Gypsies, homosexuals and whoever else the Nazis abhorred. And it all came about because the German people fell for the Nazi scare-tactics, hook, line and sinker. Had people realized that by giving up their liberty, they would lose both their liberty AND their safety, they never would have accepted that proposition.

And here we are, just over sixty years later, making the same mistake. Most people don’t realize just how much of a forfeiture of liberty the “Patriot Act” really is. By the way, what a despicably-intended misnomer that title is; there’s absolutely nothing patriotic about the death of liberty.

I’m quite sure our founders and all others who died for this once-great country are rolling over in their graves as we speak, all they fought and died for now lying beside them, six feet deep.

Each passing generation falls further and further away from the truth. If more of our youth don’t discover that they’re being lied to — that they’re sheep being led to slaughter — all hope is lost.

Some people believe 9/11 was an inside job. I myself am not sure what the truth is. All I do know is that the official story doesn’t make sense. There are countless coincidences, anomalies and gaps in logic that surround that tragic day. And the same was true of the Reichstag Fire in pre-Nazi Germany. Is it out of the realm of possibility that those hungry for power would go to such horrific lengths to accomplish their goals? Would government kill its people to accomplish its goals? Is that strictly conspiracy theory and therefore heresy?

Have you heard of Operation Northwoods? If not, check out what ABC News wrote of the top-secret military plan:

“In the early 1960s, America’s top military leaders reportedly drafted plans to kill innocent people and commit acts of terrorism in U.S. cities to create public support for a war against Cuba.

“Code named Operation Northwoods, the plans reportedly included the possible assassination of Cuban émigrés, sinking boats of Cuban refugees on the high seas, hijacking planes, blowing up a U.S. ship, and even orchestrating violent terrorism in U.S. cities.

“The plans were developed as ways to trick the American public and the international community into supporting a war to oust Cuba’s then new leader, communist Fidel Castro.

“America’s top military brass even contemplated causing U.S. military casualties, writing: “We could blow up a U.S. ship in Guantanamo Bay and blame Cuba,” and, “casualty lists in U.S. newspapers would cause a helpful wave of national indignation.””

So if our government and military planned something similarly diabolical and despicable in the past, why is the idea of 9/11 being an “inside job” so far-fetched? I find it more ludicrous to disregard any such possibility. The government has a track record of lying to us and keeping us in the dark, e.g. the CIA, FBI, et al. Is it so absurd to reason that we haven’t been given the truth about 9/11 as well?

Here’s a video – 9/11 Revisited – for your information. I’ll let it speak for itself. Digest this material and find out where you think the truth may lie. Unfortunately, we may never uncover the truth:
