Researchers levitate diamonds using only a beam of light
Researchers at the University of Rochester recently demonstrated how beams of light can actually levitate nanoscale diamonds. And while they’re not actually suggesting that we construct a light-driven hoverboard made of the precious gems, the things we might be able to do with floating diamonds are pretty cool in their own right.
By shining a second light source on the diamonds and recording both their vibrations and the light these precious stones emit, it’s possible to create a quantum computer. Project leader Nick Vamivakas describes this possibility in a paper regarding the experiment:

Robots to Patrol Cities by 2040
Robots will be patrolling cities by 2040 according to Professor Noel Sharkey, who predicts their tasks will include asking for ID, tasering and arresting suspects as well as crowd control.

In an article entitled 2084: Big robot is watching you, Sharkey, a robotics professor at the University of Sheffield, forecasts a world in which the jobs of surveillance, security and law enforcement have largely been handed over to artificial intelligence.
WIthin the next 30 years, Sharkey asserts that, “Humanoid walking robots would be more in use for crowd control at games, strikes and riots. Robots will patrol city centres and trouble spots where fights are likely to break out.”

Finance expert warns 1987-style market crash coming in last half of 2013

High temperatures for this time of year are usually in the mid-to-low 60s Fahrenheit, but this July they hit 90 degrees, and didn’t drop much below a high of 80 until just this week. Meanwhile, potentially record-breaking wildfires continue to rage, with over 22,200 acres of active burning.
The Siberian Times emphasized the lighter side of the heat wave, with photos of young people playing beach volleyball in swimsuits, a rare sight in Novosibirsk.

Pentagon Now Sees Big Data As “National Security Threat”
The data divers at the Defense Department know better than most how to how to track down someone just by looking at his phone records. Now they want to know if America’s enemies could cause a fiscal meltdown or a massive cyber attack by combing through Netflix queues, Uber accounts, and Twitter feeds.

Al Qaeda in Yemen threatens more prison breaks to free militants

Al Qaeda militants staged at least two prison breaks last month: in Iraq, Pakistan and possibly Libya.
In Iraq, 500 militants were freed during the prison, many of which were linked with Al Qaeda. The assailants behind the prison break in Libya were not immediately identified.

The Apparent reversal of solar wind is actually a second solar wind. This is a 2D simulation and wind that is moving away from point of view may actually show up as a reversal. The arrows on simulation indicate wind speed so reversals with long arrows could be very close to a reversal. Since solar wind cannot reverse the only conclusion one can draw is that we are seeing a second wind from a second star.
