Physics professor: Past decade ‘hottest ten years ever recorded’

 This past year’s seemingly endless stream of catastrophic storms wasn’t just a media narrative, according to Michio Kaku, a physics professor at the City University of New York.

On CBS This Morning on Thursday, Kaku discussed 2012′s “wacky weather” and how global warming, which creates more energy circulating on the planet, exacerbates destructive tornadoes, storms, hurricanes and even forest fires.

“You look at the weather patterns over the last year, and they all seem wild, extreme. What was driving that?” asked anchor Rebecca Jarvis.

The United States is often considered a world leader when it comes to deploying the latest biometric security and surveillance technologies. But it could have an unlikely new competitor: Ecuador.

According to Russian company the Speech Technology Center, the small Latin American country has successfully completed installation of “the world’s first biometric identification platform, at a nation-wide level, that combines voice and face identification capabilities.”

As I reported back in September, Speech Technology Center operates under the name SpeechPro in the United States. The company’s controversial technology enables authorities to build a massive database containing several million “voiceprints” of known criminals, suspects, or persons of interest. First of Three Military Hybrid Airships delivered and flying

They have designed a 400ft (122m) long “lighter-than-air” hybrid vehicle for the US Army, in a contract worth half a billion pounds. The LEMV, a first-of-its-kind airship, took to the sky on the 7th August 2012 at 6:49 p.m. Eastern Time and flew for more than 90 minutes over Lakehurst Naval Air Station.

Mysterious Fireballs Light up Night Sky across UK (VIDEO)

Hundreds of people across the UK witnessed bright objects shooting across the night sky on 21 September.

Sightings of huge fireballs, thought to be a meteor shower, were reported in northern England, central Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Witnesses described seeing a bright fireball shooting across the sky with a large bright tail.

Many people took to Twitter to post photos, videos and comments on the sightings.

The UK Met Office tweeted, “Hi all, for anyone seeing something in the night sky, we believe it was a meteorite”, while some speculated that it could be space junk burning up in the atmosphere.

The Kielder Observatory in Northumberland also reported sighting huge fireballs streaking from east to west at 9:41pm. It reported nearly 100 bright fragments shooting across the sky.

In (Northern Ontario Canada) My radio was picking up some kind of frequency on every channel I went on 14/05/2012 from 10:00PM – It went on for hours… I was at my camp in the middle of the woods with nothing to interfere with my radio… What ever it was, it was powerful enough to take over every FM signal… H.A.A.R.P maybe? Indonesia advances world’s most ambitious biometric-based national identity card project

Tampa — You might not guess that Indonesia, a large country that’s basically an archipelago of over 70,000 islands that has infrastructure issues in electricity and limited bandwidth, is the nation rolling out the world’s most ambitious biometrics-based national identity card project for its citizens. But it is.

Indonesia is spending $600 million on a project to give 172 million residents a national identity card that will be used for a wide range of purposes, including proving identity for voter registration, passport issuance, tax and financial matters, and much more. This electronic national identity card , called the e-KTP, is a government effort to get millions of citizens to enroll at registration centers where their fingerprint, iris and face are captured as images through biometric equipment and personal information stored as a record associated with each electronic identity card. According to Dr. Husni Fahmi, who heads up the e-KTP project in Indonesia, the hope is all will be in place before the next election in 2014.
