‘Brighter than a full moon’: The biggest star of 2013… could be Ison – the comet of the century
A comet discovered by two Russian astronomers will be visible from Earth next year. Get ready for a once-in-a lifetime light show, says David Whitehouse
At the moment it is a faint object, visible only in sophisticated telescopes as a point of light moving slowly against the background stars. It doesn’t seem much – a frozen chunk of rock and ice – one of many moving in the depths of space. But this one is being tracked with eager anticipation by astronomers from around the world, and in a year everyone could know its name.
Comet Ison could draw millions out into the dark to witness what could be the brightest comet seen in many generations – brighter even than the full Moon.
It was found as a blur on an electronic image of the night sky taken through a telescope at the Kislovodsk Observatory in Russia as part of a project to survey the sky looking for comets and asteroids – chunks of rock and ice that litter space. Astronomers Vitali Nevski and Artyom Novichonok were expecting to use the Read more…
Mysterious Fireballs Light up Night Sky across UK (VIDEO)

Hundreds of people across the UK witnessed bright objects shooting across the night sky on 21 September.
Sightings of huge fireballs, thought to be a meteor shower, were reported in northern England, central Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Witnesses described seeing a bright fireball shooting across the sky with a large bright tail.
Many people took to Twitter to post photos, videos and comments on the sightings.
The UK Met Office tweeted, “Hi all, for anyone seeing something in the night sky, we believe it was a meteorite”, while some speculated that it could be space junk burning up in the atmosphere.
The Kielder Observatory in Northumberland also reported sighting huge fireballs streaking from east to west at 9:41pm. It reported nearly 100 bright fragments shooting across the sky.
“Many many fragments maybe in Read more…
Strange Energy From Galactic Center Bombarding Earth
Strange particles believed to be emanating from the elusive ‘dark matter’ at the center of the galaxy have been confirmed to be bombarding Earth. Two physicists from the prestigious Department of Physics & Astronomy at University of California discovered more gamma-rays bombarding Earth than believed by astronomers. The stream of electromagnetic radiation (spewed by the process of intensive radioactive decay and other other high-energy emmisions) may be triggering the bizarre mutation of matter and an incredible energy cloud that an astrophysicist says threatens Earth.

According to a groundbreaking investigation conducted by two UC Irvine astrophysicists and submitted to the peer-reviewed American Physical Society journal Physical Review, colliding particles of dark matter may be creating a maelstrom of turbulent energy deep in the heart of the Milky Way Galaxy. Among the particles streaming from the Read more…

Astronomers see bright impact on gas giant Jupiter
The impact captured on Video by George Hall in Dallas, Texas. Image: George Hall.
Amateur astronomers in the United States of America have reported a bright fireball in the Jupiter clouds tops as a result of an apparent impact. The first to see and report the event was amateur astronomer Dan Peterson from Racine, Wisconsin, who just happened to be observing the gas giant through his 300-mm LX200 ‘scope when the fireball burst into view; “This morning (9/10/2012) at 11:35:30 UT, I observed a bright white two second long explosion just inside Jupiter’s eastern limb, located at about Longitude 1 = 335, and Latitude = + 12 degrees north, inside the southern edge of the NEB. This flash appeared to be about 100 miles in diameter. I used my Meade 12 LX200 GPS telescope and a binoviewer working at 400X for the observation, seeing was very good at the time. We’ll have to Read more…
Close Approach of PHA Asteroid 2012 QG42
On September 14th, at 05:12 GMT (09:12 Moscow time) asteroid 2012 QG42 will fly at the distance of 0.019 AU – which is 2.84 million kilometers, or about 7.4 average distances from planet Earth to the Moon.
In the future, this asteroid will fly even closer to Earth. On September 15, 2039 it will fly at the distance of 0.014 AU (5.6 distance to the Moon), and on February 15, 2013 at 23:25 MSK -at the distance of 26.9 thousand kilometers far from our planet. This distance is shorter than the height of the geostationary satellites.
Disintegrating Alien Planet Has Comet-Like Tail
A potential alien planet that is so close to its parent star that it appears to be disintegrating from the scorching heat was recently found by a team of astronomers. The planetary candidate is only slightly larger than the planet Mercury, and researchers estimate that it is shedding so much material that it could completely disintegrate within 100 million years.
Astronomers at NASA and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) detected the tiny planet, which is located roughly 1,500 light-years away, using data from the planet-hunting Kepler mission. As the possible planet evaporates, researchers theorize that it is followed by a trail of dust and debris, similar to the tail of a comet.
The dusty planet circles its host star once every 15 hours, which indicates that the star, named KIC 12557548, likely heats the planet to blistering temperatures of about 3,600 degrees Fahrenheit (1,982 degrees Celsius). The researchers hypothesize that under these conditions, the Read more…
4/24/2012 — Two stars — very bright unknown at this point — need to Identify if possible

Below is a screenshot: I cannot read the japanese.. but from the looks .. the volcano APPEARS to be Sakurajima.. in which case this would be an east or southeast facing camera I would think..
Steallarium isn’t really showing something that should be THIS bright.. through the clouds etc..

Galactic Cosmic Ray Volleys: A Coming Global Disaster (Video)s
This is a very interesting interview with Dr. Paul LaViolette regarding the superwave theory. The interview is pretty lengthy, however, it provides much insight on how our position in the Milkyway Galaxy will affect us.
Galactic core outbursts are the most energetic phenomenon taking place in the universe. During the early 60′s astronomers began to realize that the massive object that forms the core of a spiral or giant elliptical galaxy periodically becomes active spewing out a fierce barrage of cosmic rays with a total energy output equal to hundreds of thousands of supernova explosions(1, 2). The cosmic ray electron component of such an outburst is always accompanied by synchroton emission which consists of electromagnetic radiation ranging from Read more…
NASA Mystified By Enormous Energy Field

by Zen Gardner
The revelations of our energetic Universe keep on coming from many sources, including NASA’s new satellites, and it’s quite remarkable.
The observable Universe is something mankind has read as a language since the beginning. The unobservable worlds have always been the realm of philosophers, religious expressions and the esoteric sciences.
Are they coming together via modern technology, as we approach the Singularity as some call it, as a manifestation of some sort of consciousness shift?
I think so.
The video below was sent to me by a dear friend at Philosophers Stone in confirmation of my last post on this subject. It so blew my mind I wanted to get it out there as a sequel of sorts and to reinforce the above.
Scientists In Awe
More information being collected by higher and higher technology is making some seriously profound discoveries.
NASA’s Fermi Gamma-Ray Telescope is finding hundreds of new objects at the very edge of the electromagnetic spectrum. Many of them have one thing in common: Astronomers have no idea what they are. Read more…
