Giant ocean whirlpools puzzle scientists

US scientists discovered two giant whirlpools in the Atlantic Ocean, off the coast of Guyana and Suriname. It became a sensational discovery because this part of the ocean has been studied thoroughly, and no one expected anything like that to appear in the area. More importantly, no one can understand where the whirlpools came from and what surprises they may bring to people.

According to Brazilian scientist Guilherme Castellane, the two funnels are approximately 400 kilometers in diameter. Until now, these were not known on Earth. The funnels reportedly exert a strong influence on climate changes that have been registered during the recent years.

“Funnels rotate clockwise. They are moving in the ocean like giant frisbees, two discs thrown into the air. Rotation occurs at a rate of one meter per second, the speed is Read more…

Strange, Second Sun Appears in the Sky at Stevenage UK; Nibiru

April 2, 2011 2 comments

I was just informed today of a strange phenomenon in the sky that occurred at Stevenage, UK March 31, 2011.  Pamela writes “I recorded it from Stevenage, UK between 17:30 and 18:00 GMT roughly. Very cloudy day with just glimpses of sun in between clouds.”  You can see this incredible event clearly at 1:10 mark on the video.  Note: Just a few weeks ago in China, a second sun was also spotted in the sky that took news media by storm.  Thanks Pamela!

Compass Deviations/Rumble Noises

I’m reading both threads and it’s getting too much so if the mods don’t mind, I wanted to start a new thread for generalized locations of both phenomenon.

I’m the guy that is doing the Google Map. I’ve got both the compass and rumble noises on the map. Yes, it’s a lot of work. But it’s necessary for my own peace of mind and I suspect others too.

Obviously, there is something going on. We need to map it all first to get a handle on what this is and whether they are related. I’ve seen the compass deviation as well as heard the rumble first hand so I am convinced that neither are “fake”. Each thread is perfectly normal; they descend into name calling pretty quick so I hope we can avoid that. Just the observations.

Please go to the map and if you can manage it use the key below to put your general location on the map. If you can’t manage the map, please u2u me. Or just give us the phenomenon and a general location in this thread. Links to compass instructions are below.

Red balloon= compass off. Blue line connects them. Put degrees off, date, time in the description
Green balloon= compass okay. Green line connects them.
Yellow pushpin= rumble noises. Put the date/time, direction of sound (if you can).

Both of these are odd enough that I feel that we should have an ongoing map of the locations that has both of them on it. We have a world wide reach so we can do this. Compass readings, follow the directions here. Just enter your zip code and Volia’! It even has a handy compass on a map to show you where magnetic north is.

Japan quake set Texas aquifer in motion

When the earth shook during the March 11 earthquake off Japan, it had enough force to move water deep inside the Edwards Aquifer in Central Texas.

Within 15 minutes of the magnitude-9.0 earthquake, the Edward Aquifer Authority’s J-17 monitoring well in Bexar County started to vibrate, with the water level fluctuating about a foot.

“It moved up and down for almost two hours,” said Roland Ruiz, a spokesman for the water authority. “We thought it was certainly interesting that a quake that far away would register in the aquifer.”

It isn’t the first time vibrations from earthquakes have shown up in the aquifer. Last year’s 8.8 quake in Chile and 7.0 temblor in Haiti were also detected.

The Dec. 26, 2004, earthquake off Sumatra, Indonesia, caused the largest fluctuation in the aquifer when the water level moved about 2.6 feet. That 9.1 quake triggered a tsunami that killed more than 200,000 people.

The Edwards Aquifer Authority provides water to 1.7 million people in South Central Texas, including San Antonio.

“It just seems to be a natural ripple effect felt halfway around the world,” said Ruiz, who added that the “sloshing around” inside the aquifer did not create any problems.

What is This Loud NOISE?

earthquake

Earthquake “booms” have been reported for a long time, and they tend to occur more in the Northeastern US and along the East Coast. Of course, most “booms” that people hear or experience are actually some type of cultural noise, such as some type of explosion, a large vehicle going by, or sometimes a sonic boom, but there have been many reports of “booms” that cannot be explained by man-made sources. No one knows for sure, but scientists speculate that these “booms” are probably small shallow earthquakes that are too small to be recorded, but large enough to be felt by people nearby.

The sudden appearance early in the morning of an enormous crack, measuring 100 meters wide and three kilometers long, caused confusion among residents of the Huacullani district in the Chucuito province, department of Puno.

The exact cause of the crack in the earth still unknown. Peru’s geophysical institute ruled out the occurrence of an earthquake in the region, but what is clear is that the ground opened up and large blocks of earth can be observed scattered throughout the area.

The event, recorded Wednesday morning, caused the collapse of one house located in the rural community of Llorohoco. Four people managed to escape, but the youngest in the family, five-year-old Jean Carlos Vilcanqui Acero, is missing.

Mass deaths of migratory blackbirds reported in Sevastopol

SEVASTOPOL, February 19 (Itar-Tass) — Mass and still unexplained deaths of migratory blackbirds have been reported in Sevastopol.

Dozens of dead birds lie on the Kamyshovskoye highway, in the Kazachya bay and other coastal areas.

As an ornithologist, an expert on biodiversity with the Ukrainian Society for the Protection of Birds, Alexander Grinchenko, explained to anxious residents, for the present it is early to state that the blackbirds died from infection or were poisoned by food. These are migratory birds, and they had flown, most likely, from North Africa, where no epidemics are reported.

Specialists of the Sevastopol state veterinary centre are investigating the case. The first examination showed that the deaths were caused, most probably, by frost. A cyclone brought heavy snow and frosty weather to the Crimea, including the southern coast, which were not expected by the birds after their hard travel across the sea. Sevastopol is their first place to rest. Samples of tissues of dead birds have been sent to Simferopol for expert examination. The diagnosis will be established within a week, a veterinary clinic source said. And for the present, specialists recommend to burn the dead blackbirds.

The Crimean main veterinary medicine department is conducting an investigation into the case.

According to experts, “there are no reasons for particular worries, as there is no connection between this incident and the recent incidents of mass deaths of birds in the U.S., Sweden, Canada, Italy and Romania.” In Ukraine, mass death of blackbirds is reported for the first time.

5 million aquatic animals die at Mara river in Kenya

February 22, 2011 Comments off

The National Environmental Management Authority (Nema), Public Health Ministry and Kenya Wildlife Service are investigating the deaths of fish in Mara River. Conservationists suspect the deaths that started last week might have been caused by agro chemicals from farms, that drain into the river. Hoteliers in Masai Mara Game Reserve are now expressing fear that the chemicals might kill animals that depend on the river.

“The deaths could have been caused by agro chemicals from large scale farms on the upper side of the river. The chemicals might also kill hippos, crocodiles and other animals that drink water from the river,” said Ben Kipeno, a conservationist from the northern side of the reserve. Mr Kipeno said on Wednesday there were unconfirmed reports that apart from fish, a crocodile and a hippo have already succumbed to effects of the chemicals. He urged the Government to rein in farmers along the river who use potent chemicals and claimed that despite several complaints to Nema no action has been taken. Officials from KWS who were dispatched from Nairobi took samples of the fish to the Government Chemist for further tests to ascertain the cause of the deaths. When The Standard visited the river, dead fish were floating with scavengers, including the Marabou stork, feeding on them. The Narok South Nema officer in charge Gabriel Tambushi said initial reports had indicated that more than five million fish were killed at the confluence of the seasonal Moyan River in Transmara with the Mara following a heavy flood.

“The sudden change of weather that resulted into heavy mist covering the water surface, inhibiting fish and other animals that depend on the river from breathing might have been the cause of the deaths,” said Tambushi. He did not rule out poisonous agro chemicals from farms, which depended on Mara River for irrigation.
